Many hypnotherapists use this sort of notion as a way to deepen hypnosis and I have even seen it used as a means to induce hypnosis, though in my opinion, is a wonderful intervention first and foremost. Though heck, inductions and deepeners can be interventions too, right?

This week I have offered up a selection of self-hypnosis mental imagery processes for some generalist effects and benefits and they have all had a similar structure and vein to them.

Many people enjoy having a special place that they can go to. At home, I have my Italian handmade armchair in our conservatory that overlooks the garden and I love to be there.

There are other places in the world I have visited and enjoyed that have had impacts upon me that make me feel wonderful to think about today. People have favourite places that they have been to in real-life, perhaps places they remember in their mind that are dear and special and sometimes we have places we imagine or have created in our mind.

The thing is that when we combine self-hypnosis with mental imagery and engage our imagination, we can utilise all the benefits and enjoy all the comfort and protection and safety that we get when we are in that place in real-life.

It is a very simple process and one used a great deal in hypnotherapy sessions, and here is a way of doing it using self-hypnosis:

4 Simple Steps To Find Your Special Place Using Hypnosis:

Step One: Induce Hypnosis.
You can do so by any means you desire or know of. You can use the process in my Science of self-hypnosis book, use the free audio we give away on this website to practice or have a look at the following articles as and when you need them; they are basic processes to help you simply open the door of your mind:

Heavy Arm Self-Hypnosis Induction Method
Using Eye Fixation for Self-Hypnosis
The Chiasson Self-Hypnosis Method
Hand to Face Self-Hypnosis Induction
Using Magnetic Hands for Self-Hypnosis
The Coin Drop Self-Hypnosis Induction

However, with this process, an induction is potentially too much activity, so I teach my clients how to adopt a hypnotic mindset and simply have a mindset that is positive and expectant. Again, to really understand the cognitive set of the hypnotic mindset, go grab a copy of my Science of self-hypnosis book where it is explained in simple but comprehensive terms.

Once you have induced hypnosis, or just adopted the hypnotic mindset, move on to the next step.

Step Two: Use your imagination and start to imagine and experience being in a place where you feel comfortable, secure, safe and peaceful.

Let it be a special place. See the sights around you, hear the sounds of this place, and notice the feelings that go with being in this place and get a vivid sense of being here in this place.

Let yourself be with other people or enjoy being by yourself, engaging in the colours, the smells and all the sound that you associate with this place. Let your mind know no boundaries in making this the most wonderful place for you at this time.

This may be somehwere you have been before and has some special attachment to you, or maybe you just create it in the way that is right for you and let your imagination express itself beautifully.

The most important thing is that you are comfortable and at peace, feeling safe and secure in this place that your mind is presenting to you right now.  Enjoy experiencing this special place that you have created in your mind. Be there, be right in it, immerse yourself and really feel as if you are there right now.

Notice what it is that tells you that you are at peace and enjoying the serenity, how do you know this, what tells you? Enjoy a deep and profound sense of security too.

Let your breathing continue to relax you and maybe once you have this place vivid in your mind and you really feel as if you are there, you can spend some time relaxing yourself deeper with whatever kind of progressive relaxation process that you know. Once you feel connected with the place and fully relaxed, spend as long as you like just basking in it and observing the views around you enjoying the safety and security and mental calmness in this place. When you have enjoyed that for long enough, then move on to the next step.

Step Three: When you feel that you have engaged all your senses and truly connected with this special place, just enjoy the sense of being undisturbed and focused on the good feelings.

At this point you might also like to take things a step further and gain some sort of learning or insight from this time spent in your special place. if so let it happen, communicate with yourself and even tell yourself that you take these deep secure sensations with you into your life.

Take the sense of freedom with you as you progress through life too and tell yourself of anything else you have learned or consider anything you’d like to reflect positively upon. Enjoy being able to think and benefit from this process for a while basking in the tranquillity and security of this place.

Step Four: Go deeper into it for as long as you like and whenever you are ready to bring this process to an end, then you move on. Remind yourself that each time you come to this place it is even more beneficial and you gain more, and encourage yourself to practice and repeat the process.

Exit Hypnosis. Open your eyes, wiggle your toes and fingers and bring the feelings with you as you go about your life.

Very simple and basic process, but the more time you spend in such a place, the more benefits you’ll derive.

That is the last of this week’s mini-series of self-hypnosis mental imagery techniques that have been a focus this week. All those featured here this week will soon be available in a more advanced manner in our hypnotic store, delivered by myself with music and new inductions, so be sure to look out for them coming this way soon.

Have a great day.
