I have had a relatively stressful couple of days…
So I took some time out to enjoy the fresh air and the garden… I often wonder why it is so difficult to breathe when we are stressed.
Of course, I understand the nature of fight or flight behaviour and its associated physiological mechanisms… I know that many people reach for a tablet to deal with stress which I think is crazy…
As far as I can see, nothing anyone can take for stress relief is without some kind of side effect or risk, the stuff that the multi national pharmaceutical companies put in the small print.
I tend to need time to think about my stress. Having done all I can to detach myself from its cause… I am now looking at what can be done to alleviate the stress… Or am I powerless over it? In which case, it should not be bothering me.
My memory of an NLP training when I was younger reminds of being told to often “take the time to take the time.” I really rather like that, and though it may sound rather simplistic, there are virtually no detrimental side effects to pottering in my garden under the sunshine…
Hiya
I believe that simple things in life can often be the most beneficial for us. Simply being in the garden with fresh air helps me relax and breathe more naturally.
I agree it’s crazy that people often reach for tablets to reduce stress. As you know, there are plenty of easy to use, highly effective techniques for people to reduce stress naturally. In my optimistic way, I believe more people are finding ways to relax without recourse to drugs.
I like that phrase “take the time to take the time.” Quite hypnotic as I repeat it to myself. Cool stuff!
Wishing you a relaxing time.
Thanks
Jens
