Her “relaxing place” was playing the piano and singing, so during the delivery she was in trance, singing (aloud) and playing an imaginary piano, happy as a lark while they cut a 20cm incision in her abdomen and extracted a baby.

There was very little blood and although, with the film technology at the time, the lights they had to have in the OR made it very hot, the surgeon/hypnotist just suggested that she would be comfortable with the temperature, which she later confirmed that she was.

Remarkable, all right.
