I hope and trust that all of you regular readers here in the UK are safe from the recreational violence spreading throughout the country at the moment. My thoughts are with all those affected and I hope that you are getting to enjoy Summer.

We had a marvellous Summer hypnosis Geek dinner in July, the food was fine, we had larger numbers than ever, the discussions were brilliant, we were attended by stage hypnotists (including PR whizz David Days and the brilliant Martin S Taylor, credited with teaching Derren Brown elements of stage hypnosis) as well as performance hypnotist and magician, my good friend James Brown and then a wonderful group of hypnotherapists from all over the place including many of my previous students and folk from other schools… it is a recipe for success when it comes to supporting, developing and enhancing in the world of hypnosis.

Here they are in all their glory…

Today is one of those blog entries to update you on our next Hypnotherapy Peer Support Group meeting and upcoming Hypnosis Geek dinner. All you regular attendees have been updated by email and spaces are being taken up fast and this blog entry is an open invitation to both events for anyone involved in this field or with a keen interest in it.

Firstly then, on the evening of Wednesday, September the 7th is our next peer supervision and support evening for hypnotherapists. We start at 7pm on the dot as usual and attendance at the meeting will count towards your GHR and NCH required CPD (Continued Professional Development) – if you require a CPD form to bring for me to sign on the night, then get in touch and I’ll email you one.

For this meeting we will be welcoming one of our own number as our formal speaker; John Hutchings, will be  speaking on his speciality of Psychological Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  As many of you will already know, John served a full 23 ½ year career in the British Army during which he had to tackle his own Psychological Trauma “demons” and in assisting his colleagues found the motivation to become a therapist specialising on the issue on leaving the service.  His talk on a sensitive and recently much publicised issue is both enlightening and educational.  John lectures for the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in London on the subject and I for one am very much looking forward to his “Soldier’s Perspective”.

Very useful for those of us in professional practice.

The cost of the evening is, as usual, still only £3.50 and bringing the right change on the night is greatly appreciated. There will also be a slot for anyone wishing to share client matters or issues or discuss anything else with your professional peers, followed by networking in the bar afterwards.

Held again at the Marsham Court Hotel (due to be renamed the ‘Days Hotel Bournemouth’ in September) directions and details can be found at www.marshamcourt.com

The next Hypnosis Geek Dinner will be held at the same venue in the private dining room we have used for the previous events. The date is Thursday the 15th of September and we will have topics to discuss as set by you, fun to be had, factoids to share and generally celebrate the field of hypnosis with like-minded folk while having dinner together. The investment fee is £12.50 as usual.

Please do get in touch with me to book your seat at either or both of these events and I hope you continue to support both.

Enjoy the remainder of Summer and I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in September.
