Today, I simply want to highlight two articles and two ways hypnosis is making it’s way to the doorsteps of the stars… Let me show you what I mean…

I read this hypnotherapy article on yesterdays This Is Bristol website that ex-world champion boxer Glenn Cately is starting a career as a hypnotherapist:

He’s best known for leaving his opponents in a spin on the canvas of the boxing ring.

But now former world champion Glenn Catley will be working patients into a daze in his new career as a hypnotherapist.

Mr Catley has just completed a two-year psychology qualification and will be treating clients for everything from anxiety, weight loss and phobias at a practice in Clifton.

Although he has never officially retired from boxing, the 36-year-old says he intends to see out his working life as a hypnotherapist and is keen to help sports people improve their performance using the technique.

The super-middleweight, who last fought in 2007, says he has used hypnotherapy to prepare himself for bouts for the last 10 years with great success.

Mr Catley, who lives with his wife Kelli and four children in Frampton Cotterell, said: “I make no secret of the fact I used hypnotherapy throughout my boxing career.

“Although people make a joke out of it, psychology in sport is becoming more recognised and people are seeing its benefits. It’s phenomenal how it benefited me.

Glenn is a great ambassador for hypnotherapy… And on the other side of things… Lily Allen’s hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn is in the papers again… And seems to be converting many celebrities to using hypnotherapy for what she terms ‘hypno-dieting.’

This hypnosis article in the Telegraph states:

Harley Street hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn recently hit the headlines for helping pop star Lily Allen to slim from a size 14 to a size 8, thereby making hypno-dieting the weight-loss buzz word of 2009. A-listers such as Sophie Dahl and Geri Halliwell supposedly also keep slim this way and the trend is booming on both sides of the Atlantic.

Hepburn, who keeps her celebrity client list firmly under wraps, claims to have a 98 per cent success rate. Lily Allen is just the tip of the iceberg. WAGS and it-girls, famous actors and several other pop stars have flocked to her offices. “They recommend each other,” says Hepburn, who makes me promise not to name names.

A smartly dressed woman with a faint northern accent and no hint of patchouli or whale music, she is down-to-earth about her techniques. “I can’t stand diets. They don’t work. They mess you up. What I do isn’t a diet. It’s just a way of putting thoughts into a person’s mind. If you want to exercise or make healthy choices, I simply put that into your subconscious mind: I make you believe you can do it.”

She talks about “deleting files” in the subconscious (bad eating habits formed in childhood), but despite her background as a psychotherapist, she has no truck with self-analysis. “It’s very simple,” she says. “You don’t need to analyse — you just change your behaviour.”

This is great to read about.. Unfortunately, in these times, people tend to take heed of what clelebrities do and are heavily influenced by them, so if they use hypnotherapy — regardless of my hours and hours of promotion, they are going to help the cause much more rapidly.

As is usually the case, the journalist does not really do a great job of helping herself — she had one session, which I guess she got free as a means to writing the article, thus not really having any ownership over the session… She jokes about eating slightly less chocolate that one day…

Still… Much endrosement of my beloved subject today, always puts an early morning smile on face… Along with a kiss from my wife of course… 🙂
