So this weekend I was getting back into the swing of things after the festive season with my Hypnotherapy Training Diploma, it took a wee while to get my own cogs turning once again and the students seemed to follow on shortly… Well, at least most of them…

(I know lots of them read the blog here, I am pulling their leg with that comment)

There is a lot of relevance between my training courses and the subject matter that I am writing about today. As a trainer of any subject, we can claim to offer many things; knowledge, skills, experience, expertise, encouragement, inspiration and so on, yet it is the student who applies themselves, opens their mind, engages with the material and the tutor that is mainly responsible for their own learning.

I liken it to sowing a seed. The knowledge offered, the skills demonstrated and practice, these are the seeds being sown and it is so absolutely satisfying and awe-inspiring for me as a tutor to watch the individuals water those seeds with their enthusiasm, feed those seeds with their own exploration and let the sun shine upon those seeds with their endeavor, commitment and practice.

I leave each module wondering how those students will develop in between each module, the same way that I wonder how my seedlings and plants develop in my own actual garden. I get excited and love to see them using their skills and sharing my own love of this wonderful field of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

Now in my previous blog entry, I offered up a process to start the new year off by creating a fertile mindset for motivation, inspiration and drive. Please do have a look at it and run through that process if you wish to make the most out of todays session… Because today we are planting the seed of motivation ready for it to blossom and bloom in our next session.

Like I said, rather than giving a single session to enhance motivation and end laziness for a kick start to the new year, I thought we’d do it diligently, thoroughly and really develop some deep-rooted, powerful and genuine intrinsic motivation.

We are building upon the metaphor that is used frequently within the work of people such as Joseph Murphy (The Power of Your Subconscious Mind) and James Allen (As A Man Thinketh) and using the idea that we can plant thoughts and inspirations into the mind and grow them into beautiful things.

Let me take you through this next step then.  You should already have your desired outcomes in mind. That is, the sorts of things that you wish to achieve and want to make sure you complete and resolve to do this year. (as per our previous session) With those outcomes still in mind, and having created a fertile mindset using the previous session, proceed with the following:

6 Steps To Plant The Seed Of Motivation and End Laziness:

Step One: Induce Hypnosis. You can do so by any means you desire or know of. You can use the process in my self-hypnosis book, use the free audio at this website to practice or have a look at the following articles as and when you need them; they are basic processes to help you simply open the door of your mind:

Using eye fixation for self-hypnosis.

The Betty Erickson Self-Hypnosis Method video clip.

Using Magnetic Hands for Self-Hypnosis.

Once you have induced hypnosis, move on to step two.

Step Two: Engage your imagination. Imagine that you are once again in the fertile garden of your mind.  See the sights, hear the sounds and feel comfortable and free and at ease as you breathe the clean fresh air and relax. Use this time in the garden, imagining the details of it, to deepen your hypnosis experience and reach further into your mind.

Also begin to develop a sense of excitement and anticipation at knowing that you are soon going to plant the seeds of motivation, drive and inspiration in your mind and let go of any laziness, let go of any unwanted procrastination. Start to consider and imagine how wonderful that is going to be and the things you are going to accomplish and achieve as a result of this new, deep-rooted motivation and inspiration.

Once you have found yourself and really engaged in the surrounds of your fertile, prepared garden and the planting area, then move on to step three.

Step Three: Step over to your shed, find the tools that you need to plant your seeds and then find the packet of seeds that is labeled ‘motivation.’ Notice the packet, the colours and hear the sounds of the seeds inside as you lightly shake the packet ensuring the seeds are all at one end while you open it.

Tear the top off the packet and pour some of the seeds into the palm of your hand. Notice what it is that tells you these are very special, different seeds. Perhaps they sparkle, perhaps they glow, perhaps they have a particular shape, or are a size that tells you that these are strong, powerful seeds that you are going to be planting in your mind. Each on of those seeds has the potential to grow into the bloom and blossoming motivation that helps you achieve all that you desire.

Take a couple of nice deep breaths, notice that the weather is the perfect weather for you and for planting these seeds out and allow every thought that you think to take you deeper inside your mind to a place the ensures you believe this is going to be a hugely successful process for you. When you have the seeds firmly in your mind, move on to step four.

Step Four: Admire the fertile ground and the kneel comfortably down and start to prepare the area and plant the seeds into the ground. Firm the ground around each seed and as you do, offer up your love, assurance and determination to help these seeds grow into fine blooms from precious, delicate seeds.

Right now as you plant these seeds tell yourself that you are going to make sure these seeds thrive and develop and grown and eventually bloom.

Breathe comfortably and deeply, relax further and as you relax more, feel a sense of determined motivation begin to signal itself deep within you too, like you start to notice the presence of the seeds within you and your mind as they have been planted into the ground here.

When you notice that you are expectant and sure that you have lovingly planted the seeds, then move on to the next step.

Step Five: Make sure that as you get up off your knees and look at the area, that you water the area where the seeds are, water it well and enjoy watching the sun shine on that area of ground. Tell yourself that this is just the start of something truly remarkable and wonderful and that you are soon going to notice the motivation developing, amplifying and growing in real terms in your life.

Those seeds are now starting to grow. In the coming days, you can start to wonder in what ways they’ll begin to show themselves in your real life. On occasions throughout the coming days you can imagine watering them in your mind, you can imagine pouring sunlight upon them too, caring for them as you can imagine them growing roots deep into the earth and developing and growing powerfully.

Each time you think of those seeds they strengthen, each time you notice them strengthening, you feel your own sense of powerful motivation and sense of purpose growing within you too and you confirm that to yourself with your internal dialogue.

Once you have watered the area and assured yourself that you have created the perfect environment for them to flourish, then move on to the final step.

Step Six: Feeling really wonderful about having planted those seeds, now wiggle your fingers and toes, take a couple of good, deep breaths, open your eyes and go about your day.

Remember that in the coming days, keep imagining watering and pouring sunlight onto those seeds, send them love and goodness and imagine the roots developing. As they develop, start to notice feelings and sensations growing within you and use your internal dialogue to remind yourself of that message too.

I’ll be back in a couple of days with our final step in this process and really get you highly motivated and put an end to any procrastination whatsoever before we arrive at the middle of January!

Have a great day.
