Hello and welcome to this week's Adam Up.

This coming Friday, the 9th May, at 2pm, I shall be gazing down the aisle of a beautiful marquee… Watching the most beautiful woman I ever did meet, walking arm in arm with her father to marry me.

Man oh man, that fills me with some major excited feelings as I type the words!

Needless to say, things are pretty busy here. Following the bank holiday weekend, and what with final preparations being made this week and tying up all my loose ends with work, I do not have as much time available to me as usual. Usually Adam Up takes me the best part of a day to write and finalise… I don't have that much time this week, and because of this, this Adam Up is slightly different…

I wanted to share with you the two readings that are being made during our marriage ceremony, because I love them both so much and hope you'll enjoy reading them too.

Of all the things I wish for you, I would give anything if these wishes could always come true…

I want you to be happy.

I want you to fill your heart with feelings of wonder and to be full of courage and hope.

I want you to have the type of friendship that is a treasure — and the kind of love that is beautiful forever.

I wish you contentment: the sweet, quiet, inner kind that comes around and never goes away.

I want you to have hopes and have them all come true.

I want you to make the most of this moment in time.

I want you to have a real understanding of how unique and rare you truly are.

I want to remind you that the sun may disappear for a while, but it never forgets to shine.

I want you to have faith.

May you have feelings that are shared from heart to heart, simple pleasures amidst this complex world, and wonderful goals that are within your grasp.

May the words you listen to say the things you need to hear.

And may a cheerful face lovingly look back at you when you happen to glance in your mirror.

I wish you the insight to see your inner and outer beauty.

I wish you sweet dreams.

I want you to have times when you feel like singing and dancing and laughing out loud.

I want you to be able to make your good times better and your hard times easier to handle.

I want you to have millions of moments when you find satisfaction in the things you do so wonderfully.

And I wish I could find a way to tell you — in untold ways — how important you are to me.

Of all the things I'll be wishing for, wherever you are and whatever I may do, there will never be a day in my life when I won't be wishing for the best… for you.

Because that person is you.

So really that is it from me for a couple of weeks. I'll be back writing Adam Up again when I return from the Maldives a married man.

It has been a period of time with much change for me, much of it I am still bewildered by. I have to say that I have never been as truly happy as I am this very moment in time and I thank you for allowing me to share that with you.

The Magic Elevator

An Amish boy and his father were in a shopping mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny silver walls that could move apart and slide back together again.

The boy asked, "What is this, father?"

The father, never having seen an elevator, responded, "Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life. I don't know what it is."

While the boy and his father were watching in amazement, a fat old lady in a wheelchair rolled her way up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small chamber. The walls closed, and the boy and his father watched the small circular numbers above the walls light up sequentially. They continued to watch until the last number was reached; then the numbers began to light in reverse order.

Finally the walls opened again, and a gorgeous 24-year-old blonde stepped out.

The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son…
"Go get your mother!"
