The Secret To A Longer Life?

The secret to a longer life? Being conscientious.

I started  fascinating discussion in my members area this week about the virtue of selfishness. It whipped up some interesting responses that’s for sure. With that still fresh in my mind, while reading this weeks edition of the New Scientist, I stumbled across something that set more lights going off in my brain…

The notion of conscientiousness.

This morning, I looked the word up in my dictionary to make sure I knew the correct meaning and was not using some handed down version of an incorrect term…  Conscientious: Involving or taking great care; painstaking; diligent.

Why Do We Go Crazy When People Push In?

What is it that goes off inside of us when someone pushes in front of us in a queue? Is there anything more frustrating?

I can remember as a teenager and when in my early 20s my firends and I would queue up for what seemed like hours outside the nightclub, with only our shirts and the evenings beer keeping us warm… And then along would come a couple of girls in short skirts who smiled sweetly at the bouncers and they’d be allowed to waltz straight in… How infuriating!

Is The Booze Shrinking Your Brain?

So my marathon training is well under way again… Yesterday I was doing lactate threshold runs… Phew, they do make you want to have a rosey-cheeked lie down afterwards… As well as my mid-tempo runs, fast interval days and my weekly long run… There is lots going on for my body…

As I am also working so much at the moment, with training courses at weekends (latest diploma starts tomorrow), my daily practice, my online business and attempting to have a social life of some kind, I have had a period of time where I have not been drinking alcohol… Not at all…

The reason I am telling you this today?

New research shows that all you need to do is have two drinks (or more) a day and, voila!, honey you’ve shrunk your brain.
